Classic City Belly Dance Company aims to provide engaging and authentic performances, and welcomes adult dancers of all ages and abilities. Company members train with a focus on Egyptian dance techniques, modern and traditional Middle eastern music, and the unique Tribal Odyssey Belly Dance (TOBD) format for group improvisation. Our motto is “No Dancer Left Behind!” Our goal is to foster a welcoming, body-positive belly dance experience and supportive environment where company members can grow and thrive.
Members will:
– Learn Egyptian, folklore, and improvisational dance technique, basic Middle Eastern rhythms, and use of props (sword, veil, cane, etc.).
– Explore choreography adaptable to all skill levels.
– Ongoing mastery of improvisational techniques, including TOBD group improvisation.
– Expand musicality and learn the basics of percussion instruments, including finger cymbals.
Our Director is Jen Kay (aka Rajni), a Certified TOBD Instructor with 20 years of experience as a belly dance student and 15 years as an instructor.
